Town Board
It is my privilege to welcome you to the Town Supervisor’s office. I was born and raised in Canandaigua, and am a 1989 graduate of Canandaigua Academy. In 1995, my wife Kellie and I decided that this was where we wanted to stay and raise our family. We have had the privilege of raising our four children in this great community. Our oldest two are Canandaigua graduates, and our youngest two are an active part of Canandaigua schools. I completed my undergraduate work at Brigham Young University and at SUNY Geneseo, receiving a Bachelor of History from Geneseo. I earned my Master’s in Education from The University of New England. I have been employed as a social studies teacher in the Canandaigua City School District since 1999. I am an active member of my church, spent two years as a volunteer missionary in Milan, Italy, have spent many seasons as a football and girl’s lacrosse coach, and have served in various capacities for BSA Troop 53. I was first elected to the Town Board in 2019 and elected Supervisor in 2021.
The Town Supervisor is the Town’s chief elected official, and by state law is the Town’s chief fiscal officer. The Supervisor’s office is responsible for ensuring that all monies are collected, and that all spending is done in compliance with town policies and state law. Additionally, the Supervisor appoints the Town Historian and oversees the work of that office. The Supervisor is one of five members of the Town Board, each member having one vote. The Supervisor’s job is to make sure that the agenda is followed, and that each board meeting runs according to the town’s rules of procedure. The Supervisor also provides monthly financial reports to the public and the Town Board. Any resident wishing to speak at a Town Board meeting can reach out to me, or simply attend a meeting and speak during the privilege of the floor.
The supervisor also represents the town on the Ontario County Board of Supervisors and on standing committees of the County Board. The Town of Canandaigua has the fourth largest weighted vote on the County Board. Any resident who wishes to speak at an Ontario County Board of Supervisors meeting can reach out to me to be added to the agenda.
As your Town Supervisor it is my job to represent you! I am here to listen to your questions, comments and concerns. I want to ensure that every resident feels like they have a voice. I have a great working relationship with our local, state, and federal officials, and can access those resources to help in any way that I can. If you have any questions, I am available to meet in my office at Town Hall, and I am more than willing to meet you at your home, or at any other location. Please feel free to reach out at any time. My contact information is at right (or below if viewing on a mobile device).
