The Tax Collector:
Handles
all tax inquiries. Call (585) 394-1120 from Mid December through March
Collects
taxes. The only person who can receive tax payments in hand is the tax collector.
Absolutely no one else, by law, can do so.
The Tax Collector does NOT:
Handle
assessment questions. Please direct any assessment questions to the Town
of Canandaigua Assessor.
Issue
receipts from April through December for the current year, or from previous years.
The number to call for receipt during that time, or for
all previous years is (585) 396-4432 (Ontario County Treasurer).
Accept
credit card payments. The reason for this is to ensure that the discount that
the credit card company takes is not levied onto other
taxpayers.
Canandaigua National Bank will receive full payments in the month of January only.
Lock Box Facility available in the Town Hall Lobby.
A special note about escrows:
Should
you receive a bill that should have been paid by a bank: Banks must request the
bills by December 1st.
The Tax Collector does not send any bills unless they
have been requested. If you've received a bill, please contact the bank.
