The Town of Canandaigua continues to commemorate and celebrate the Town’s 225th Anniversary.  Volunteers recently constructed a replica steamboat float for the annual July 4th parade.  The Town's Special Events Committee, including Oksana Fuller, Lois Golbec, Ed Varno, Dennis Brewer and Ray Henry, coordinated this endeavor. Mark Brassie and Kelly Stegall are credited for building the award winning boat. Highway & Water Superintendent Jim Fletcher assisted with the float development and transportation. During the parade, Mark was the “Captain” of the float and his wife, Sue was the “First-Mate.” The float was pulled by an antique Farmall tractor loaned to the Town by Mark Stryker and driven by his son, Tim. Because of the hard work and efforts of our staff and volunteers, the float received the "Outstanding Float" award! Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time, energy and talents to this worthwhile event!
