Senior Recreation & Engagement Working Group Now Recruiting

The Town of Canandaigua is now recruiting community members to serve on the newly established Senior Recreation & Engagement Working Group, operating under the Parks & Recreation Committee.

As our senior population continues to grow, the Town remains committed to expanding meaningful recreation, wellness, and social opportunities for older adults. This working group will provide an important advisory role by offering input and recommendations to help guide future programming and services.

What the Working Group Will Do

Members of the Senior Recreation & Engagement Working Group will:

  • Review existing senior recreation programs and identify opportunities for growth or enhancement

  • Recommend new programming that supports physical activity, lifelong learning, social connection, and wellness

  • Consider accessibility, transportation, and scheduling needs related to senior participation

  • Explore partnerships with local organizations, service providers, and community groups

  • Provide input on facilities usage and space needs for senior programming

  • Support outreach efforts to ensure programs align with the needs and interests of the Town’s senior population

Who Should Apply

We welcome residents with an interest or experience in recreation, senior services, health and wellness, community planning — or anyone passionate about strengthening opportunities for older adults in our community.
