There are six public parks in the Town of Canandaigua
West Lake Schoolhouse Park (or Butler Road Park)
Located at Butler Road and West Lake Road is a swimming area enjoyed by many each summer. Swimming only permitted when a lifeguard is on duty. The swimming for 2011 has ended, but check back next year beginning Memorial Day!
The School House can also be rented on a daily basis. The fee is $35 per day Monday-Friday and $60 per day Saturday & Sunday. The building holds approximately 25 people and works well for a meeting place, birthday party, etc. There is a sink and counter in the main room and a bathroom that is handicap accessible.

McJannett Park
Located at 4820 State Route 21 South - This is a small roadside picnic-rest stop two miles south of Cheshire and above Onanda Park that features several picnic tables and a wonderful view of Canandaigua Lake. This land was deeded to the Town by New York Department of Transportation in 1995.

Richard P. Outhouse Memorial Park
The Richard P. Outhouse Memorial Park is located on Outhouse Road between County Road 30 and Buffalo Street Extension, in the northern part of town, on the western border of the City of Canandaigua.
This is a new park, currently under construction, and is approximately 34 acres in size.
The park's natural features include Sucker Brook and plenty of wooded areas. The park will also include a number of pavilions as well as recreational fields.

Leonard R. Pierce Memorial Park

Located on Goodale Road in the Hamlet of Cheshire, this park is a memorial to Cheshire resident Leonard R. Pierce, who was shot down over the English Channel during WWII.
The park features a ball diamond, soccer field, sand volleyball court, swings, sandbox, basketball backboard, and other playground equipment.
There is also a scenic wooded area and a small stream. The park has two pavilions and rest room facilities.

Onanda Park

Located on West Lake Road (County Road 16), Onanda Park is about eight miles south of the City of Canandaigua consisting of eighty acres, seven of which are lake side and include cabins, a pavilion and lodges available for rent. The upland seventy-three acres of hillside contain a two-mile hiking path, pavilions, winter sledding and overflow parking.
Originally started as a YMCA Camp just before the turn of the century, it was purchased in 1989 by a cooperative effort by New York State and the Town of Canandaigua. It was opened in 1990 to the public. Fishing, swimming, family picnics and gatherings have proven popular at this year round recreation area.
Sorry, no alcohol, pets (other than seeing-eye dogs), roller-blades or skateboards allowed in the Park. No bike riding permitted on Lakeside.

Shore fishing is allowed year round. Car-top canoes, sculls & kayaks are allowed to launch from Onanda Park on a regular basis and is subject to rules posted at the lake. Boat launching is only permitted November 15th to April 15th, and is subject to availability. For more information on boat launching and fishing regulations contact the Town of Canandaigua's Parks Maintenance Supervisor at (585) 396-2752.

Blue Heron Park

Located off Parkside Drive, this park boasts about 20 acres with a looped walking trail, benches and a newly added pavilion! A gift of $1,200 from Kiwanis helped in the cost of the pavilion. There are plans for another pavilion, volleyball court and more landscaping!
